Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, widely known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), has approached the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode to challenge the ongoing process for installing a new Awujale of Ijebuland.
In the suit, the musician is asking the court to halt all steps being taken toward the selection and installation of the next monarch, pending the determination of his substantive case.
Named as defendants are Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; the council secretary; the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council; and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
K1, who has openly declared interest in the vacant stool, claims ancestry from the Jadiara Royal House within the larger Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, leaders of the ruling house have dismissed his claim, insisting that he has no royal ties to the family.
The legal action, filed as a motion ex parte before High Court 2 in Ijebu-Ode, is marked Suit No: HC3/238/2025.
The application, dated December 16, was brought under relevant provisions of the Ogun State High Court Civil Procedure Rules, the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and the court’s inherent powers.
In his prayer, the applicant urged the court to issue an interim order restraining the respondents from proceeding with the selection process, arguing that such an order is necessary to protect his interests and prevent irreversible actions while the case is pending.
The court is yet to fix a date to hear the application.
