Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has advised Nigerians in their 50s against relocating abroad, arguing that such a move is better suited to younger people pursuing long-term opportunities.
Speaking in a video shared online, the rapper questioned the purpose of relocating at that stage in life, asking whether people in their 50s intended to begin hustling abroad.
According to him, the rewards of starting over in a foreign country may come too late to be worthwhile, insisting that relocation is mostly ideal for individuals in their 20s.
His comments have added to the ongoing public conversation surrounding the “Japa” trend, with several public figures previously expressing differing views on emigration.
In recent years, singer Dotman spoke about regretting his move to the United States, while actor Ugezu Ugezu recounted the story of a Nigerian doctor who became a butcher after relocating.
