Yoruba actress Adebanke Adeyeye, popularly known as Debanke, has shared how heartbreak and professional betrayal nearly forced her to quit acting.
In an interview with Potpourri, she revealed that a failed relationship left her emotionally shaken, prompting a temporary break from her career.
“I would choose money over love any day because I have tried love and it didn’t work for me,” she said, stressing the importance of walking away from relationships lacking respect and affection.
Debanke also recounted a professional setback when a marketer allegedly adapted her story into a movie without her consent and gave it to another actor, an experience she described as devastating but ultimately motivating.
Reflecting on her journey, she credited her early passion for acting and support from loved ones for her success.
Despite challenges in Nollywood, including condescension from some established actors and societal stereotypes about women, Debanke remains committed to storytelling and creating meaningful films.
