Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has pushed back against critics condemning actors who dance on social media to promote their movies, insisting there are no fixed rules for marketing films.
Reacting via Instagram, the actress questioned who set such standards, arguing that creatives are free to adopt strategies that work best for them.
She stressed that no one owes critics an explanation for how they choose to promote their projects, adding that jealousy often fuels unnecessary attacks within the industry.
Iyabo encouraged her colleagues to focus on results rather than public opinion, stating that 2026 should be about action, not endless debate.
According to her, success looks different for everyone, and each person should be allowed to win in their own way.
Her comments come amid an industry-wide debate sparked by filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s criticism of dancing as a promotional tool, a stance that has drawn varied reactions from Funke Akindele and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.
