A Covenant University first-class graduate, Onwuka Wisdom, has captured widespread attention online after he was spotted selling phone accessories at Alaba International Market.
Covenant University, ranked the best university in Nigeria in 2024 and 2025 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, is one of the country’s leading tertiary institutions, and its graduates are highly respected in the labour market.
Ibukun Amosu, an X user who noticed Wisdom at his store, shared the encounter online, highlighting that the graduate had hung a photo of himself with Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder and chancellor of Covenant University, in his shop.
According to Ibukun, Wisdom earns a daily income from the store and has the flexibility to resume and close at his chosen time.
He questioned why the first-class graduate spent a significant amount on his education at Covenant University when he could have used the funds to start the business immediately. Ibukun wrote:
“I was at Alaba Int. Market today. This Igbo bro graduated from CU as top of his class, set up a phone accessories shop and hung a picture he took with Oyedepo. He is making money every day, open and close his business the way he likes. My question is why spend 4-5 years and that money on school when he can just set up shop with the money from the start?”
Proud of his hustle, Wisdom responded in the comment section of Ibukun’s tweet, thanking him for stopping by his store and introducing himself. He also shared his academic achievement.
“Thank you so much for stopping by at my store… My name is Ambassador Wisdom. CEO Ambassador Global Communication…. Had my first Degree Bsc. Biochemistry, First Class Hons. from Covenant University,” Wisdom tweeted, along with a picture of himself and the supposed customer.
