Players of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have reportedly stopped all preparations for their next Africa Cup of Nations fixture over unresolved financial entitlements.
According to BBC Africa correspondent Oluwashina Okeleji, who is currently in Morocco, both players and technical crew have declined to proceed to Marrakech, citing outstanding bonus payments as the reason for their action.

Nigeria are scheduled to face Algeria in Saturday evening’s quarter-final encounter of the 2025 AFCON, but the situation has thrown the team’s immediate plans into uncertainty.
Sources indicate that bonuses linked to Nigeria’s four matches at the tournament are yet to be settled.
The Super Eagles recorded victories over Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda during the group stage, before delivering an emphatic 4–0 win against Mozambique in the Round of 16.
In protest, the squad has reportedly suspended travel and training activities, insisting that the financial issues must be addressed before they resume full participation ahead of the crucial knockout clash.
