Actress Linda Ejiofor won Best Supporting Actress at the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for her role in ‘The Herd’, edging out Funke Akindele and other nominees in the category.
The AMVCA jury, headed by veteran actress Joke Silva, decided the award.
Ejiofor’s performance as the wife of a kidnapped man in the satirical drama ‘The Herd’ was recognised ahead of Akindele’s portrayal of Adetutu Fernandez in ‘Behind The Scenes’.
Akindele’s film drew strong online discussion before the ceremony and grossed over N2 billion at the Nigerian box office, with its storyline focused on black tax and family responsibility.
Other nominees in the category included Bisola Aiyeola for ‘Gingerrr’, Sola Sobowale for ‘The Covenant’, Nadia Dutch for ‘Aljana’, Amal Umar for ‘The Herd’, Juliebrenda Nyambura for ‘MTV Shuga Mashariki’, and Olamide Kidbaby for ‘Oversabi Aunty’.
In the Best Supporting Actor category, Bucci Franklin won for his role as Oboz in ‘To Kill A Monkey’.
