The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards are officially out, and Sinners has set a new record, earning 16 nods, the most ever for a single film at the 2026 Oscars.
The horror epic, set in 1930s Mississippi, stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as twins Smoke and Stack.
Jordan received his first Oscar nomination for his performance, while the film also secured nominations for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and more.
Other first-time acting nominees this year include Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein; Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners; Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another; and several cast members of the Norwegian drama Sentimental Value, including Elle Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Renate Reinsve, and Stellan Skarsgård.
One Battle After Another follows closely with 13 nominations, including Best Picture and a Best Actor nod for Leonardo DiCaprio. Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet received his second consecutive Best Actor nomination for the frenetic table tennis drama Marty Supreme, after being nominated last year for A Complete Unknown.
The full slate of nominations across all 24 categories was announced Thursday by actors Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks. Leading the pack are Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which surpassed the previous record of 14 nominations shared by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land, and Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
The 98th Oscars ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood, with Conan O’Brien returning as host.
