Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has emphasised the importance of leadership by example in addressing Nigeria’s security and economic challenges.
Obi made the remarks during an interactive X Space session where he responded to questions from Nigerians on governance and accountability.
According to him, insecurity in the country continues to worsen due to a lack of discipline and responsibility among leaders.
To illustrate his approach to leadership, Obi shared a personal experience from his time as a serving governor.
He recalled a flight on British Airways where he encountered a badly soiled aircraft toilet.
Rather than walk away, he said he cleaned it himself without drawing attention to his action.
Obi explained that the incident later surprised other passengers who discovered the toilet had been cleaned by a sitting governor.
He urged Nigerians to stop living artificial lifestyles and take responsibility when they see things go wrong.
Obi maintained that his values have prepared him to lead Nigeria effectively if given the opportunity.
