Analyst, Prof. Najeem Bayo, has expressed strong doubts about the possibility of any candidate defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Bayo argued that the president has consolidated significant political influence across the country, making it nearly impossible for the opposition to mount a successful challenge.
According to him, Tinubu’s control over key political structures and state governors gives him a major advantage ahead of the next election cycle.
“How can you defeat President Bola Tinubu. he has gathered everybody together in one basket. you can’t defeat him. money for money, vote for vote. 20,000 per vote, they have the money to buy everybody,” Bayo said.

He further alleged that state resources could be deployed to influence the electoral process, claiming that many governors are aligned with the president.
“All the governors have one chest, they’ll just devote three months allocation to settling people, and people are hungry, they’ll collect and if they don’t there’ll be a glitch in INEC,” he added.
Bayo also questioned whether a credible election would even take place in 2027, insisting that the current political environment heavily favours the incumbent president.
“We are not going to have election in 2027, if we ever have it, nobody can defeat Tinubu the way we are today, I don’t know of tomorrow, because he’s in control of almost 31 governors out of 36,” he stated.
