Former United States President Barack Obama has unveiled his official music playlist for 2025, continuing his annual tradition of sharing his favourite tracks with fans around the world.

This year’s selection highlights a rich mix of global sounds, with several Nigerian stars and emerging talents making the cut, highlighting the growing international influence of Afrobeats.

Since he began releasing the playlists while in office, Obama’s picks have gained a reputation for shaping music trends, as artists featured often enjoy a significant boost in visibility and streaming figures.

Obama, in a statement posted on his official X handle late Wednesday, said, “As 2025 comes to a close, I’m continuing a tradition that I started during my time in the White House: sharing my annual lists of favourite books, movies, and music.

“I hope you find something new to enjoy—and please send any recommendations for me to check out!”

Prominent Afrobeats stars such as Olamide, Burna Boy, Asake, Seyi Vibez, and Young Jonn featured on the list, further cementing the genre’s global dominance.
