Aondofa Orkeghen, a 29-year-old National Youth Service Corps member from Taraba State, has recounted the traumatic killing of his father, Francis Orkeghen, and four relatives by suspected terrorists in New Gboko village, Chanchanji ward.
The first attack forced his mother and siblings to flee, while his father stayed behind to secure belongings, unaware of a second deadly raid.
Orkeghen revealed that one of the attackers called him to confirm the killings and dared him to retrieve his father’s corpse, warning that he could be the next victim.
The intruders have since occupied the community, leaving residents unable to return.
Despite notifying authorities, no immediate action has been taken to remove the attackers.
He described his late father as a respected school proprietor and community leader who contributed significantly to local development.
Orkeghen appeals for government intervention to restore safety and retrieve his father’s remains as the attacks continue unabated.
