Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami, son of former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), was rushed to the Kuje Correctional Centre clinic on Tuesday after collapsing suddenly.
His hospitalization comes amid ongoing fraud allegations implicating him, his father, and the former AGF’s fourth wife, Hajia Bashir Asabe.
Earlier on the day, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the family before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Maitama, on a 16-count charge involving conspiracy, money laundering, and concealment of over N8.7 billion, contrary to the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022. The defendants pleaded not guilty.
Court documents allege the Malami family used front companies, bank accounts, and properties to launder public funds while in office.
The case is set for a bail hearing on January 2, 2026. Abdulaziz Malami and co-defendants are being held in a VIP cell at Kuje Prison, where they maintain their innocence.
