Former Big Brother Naija housemate Maria Chike Benjamin has spoken publicly for the first time about long-standing allegations surrounding her relationship, firmly rejecting claims that she broke up a marriage.
In a recent podcast conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Maria said she was unaware that her partner was married at the time their relationship began.
According to her, the public narrative around the issue has been distorted over the years.
“I wasn’t aware he was married when we started dating,” she said, stressing that she does not feel obligated to explain her personal life to critics.
Maria also dismissed accusations of being a home wrecker, insisting she would never intentionally hurt another woman.
She noted that she understands the emotional pain such situations cause and would not knowingly be part of it.
