Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has denied allegations that she ordered the arrest of a Twitter user over a viral AI-generated image of her that sparked widespread online debate.
The manipulated image, which darkened her complexion, led to accusations of skin bleaching and attracted heavy trolling across social media platforms.
A user identified as ScoobyDoo later claimed he was arrested and detained at Area F Police Command in Ikeja following his comments on the post.
However, Lawal has firmly dismissed the claim, insisting she did not initiate any arrest and would not abuse legal power over what she described as a “frivolous” AI-generated joke.
In her statement, she criticised the spread of false narratives, expressing frustration over repeated misinformation about her.
Lawal stressed that she supports freedom of expression but urged the public to verify facts before circulating claims, warning against what she called obsessive online attacks and deliberate misrepresentation of her character.
