Detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has notified the Federal High Court of his intention to open his defence in the ongoing trial over terrorism-linked charges.
In a document he personally signed and filed on October 21, Kanu disclosed plans to call 23 witnesses and requested the court to extend the period earlier allotted for his defence from six to 90 days.
He divided his witnesses into two categories — those willing to appear voluntarily and others he wants the court to compel through summons. Kanu also indicated that he would testify in person.
