The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned candidates against accepting admissions offered outside its Central Admissions Processing System, saying such admissions are illegal and could prevent affected students from being recognised as legitimately admitted.
The warning was issued during a question-and-answer session at the 2026 Annual Education Summit of the Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria in Abuja.
Speaking through the Board’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede stressed that every valid admission must be processed through CAPS and accompanied by an official JAMB admission letter.
He explained that candidates who accept admissions outside the approved process risk being excluded from the official matriculation list.
According to him, once a candidate accepts admission through CAPS and prints the admission letter, their details are automatically transferred to JAMB’s matriculation list.
Meanwhile, the National Universities Commission announced plans to intensify monitoring of universities to curb illegal admissions and regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence.
