Nigerian singer Spyro has intensified his criticism of religious leaders over the rising insecurity across the country, accusing silent pastors of enabling oppression through their refusal to speak out.

The singer made the statement while reacting to backlash that followed his earlier comments against church leaders and religious institutions.

According to Spyro, pastors have a moral duty to defend their members and openly address the hardship Nigerians are facing.

He argued that while the government bears major responsibility for the insecurity crisis, religious leaders should also be held accountable because millions of citizens rely on them for guidance and leadership.

Referencing the recent kidnapping of school children and teachers in Oyo State, Spyro questioned why influential clerics have not mounted stronger public pressure on authorities to tackle violence and insecurity affecting ordinary Nigerians across the country.
