Nigerian comedian and filmmaker AY Makun has called for national unity and honest reflection in tackling Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, following the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
In a video shared on Instagram, AY warned that dependence on politicians for survival often silences people from speaking the truth.
He argued that financial and political ties weaken accountability and distort public discourse, especially during national crises.
According to him, Nigeria’s security challenges should not be reduced to political, ethnic, tribal or religious sentiments.
The entertainer urged Nigerians to place the country above personal or political interests and accept collective responsibility for the nation’s future.
He stressed that the current wave of insecurity affects all citizens, regardless of affiliation.
AY’s remarks come amid growing public outrage over recurring abductions across the country, as many Nigerians demand urgent and unified action to address insecurity and restore public confidence in governance.
