FIFA has officially acknowledged receipt of a petition from Nigeria over the Democratic Republic of Congo’s alleged use of ineligible players in their recent World Cup playoff matches.
The world football governing body confirmed that it has begun a review of the complaint, which was submitted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and that the matter is currently under consideration.
This was disclosed via a post on X by sport journalist, Julie Sport, on Monday.

According to FIFA, the submission is being examined in line with its regulations, with a decision expected in the coming days.

FIFA did not disclose further details of the case but assured that all parties involved would be duly informed once a verdict is reached.
Meanwhile, the NFF has said it is confident in the merits of its complaint and will await FIFA’s decision as the review process continues.
