A man from Lagos made headlines after flying to Abuja to join a protest at the National Assembly, demanding the mandatory electronic transmission of election results in Nigeria.
Holding a large pot and spoon as a symbolic gesture, he addressed the crowd passionately, insisting that citizens must hold political leaders accountable for electoral manipulations.
Speaking at the rally, he said, “Akpabio has cooked for Nigeria—we are eating it. It’s now our time to return the favour and also cook for him. We will never accept anything short of electronic transmission of election results—nothing more, nothing less.”
He argued that with 93% of polling booths now covered by network and over 140 million Nigerians connected to the internet, real-time transmission of results is feasible.
Recalling the 2023 elections, he warned against repeated deceit, urging the government and INEC to implement reforms for transparent, technology-driven future elections.
