Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has claimed that he is being targeted for elimination by the United States under allegations linking him to Boko Haram.

Gumi made the claim while addressing his followers in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

He said the information was relayed to him through a phone call from an unidentified senior official in Abuja during the early hours of the day.

According to the cleric, his name allegedly came up during discussions at a high-level security meeting, where plans were said to be underway to portray him as a terrorist.

“I received a call from a top official in Abuja informing me that I am among those marked by the US for elimination through an American airstrike,” Gumi stated.

He called on northern leaders and Islamic clerics to speak out against what he described as false narratives, while also questioning global powers’ roles in the emergence of terrorism.
