A Nigerian woman has shared a heartbreaking account of losing her uncle due to Nigeria’s failing healthcare system.
In a viral post on X, she recounted how her uncle, who had been ill for only two days, could not access urgent dialysis treatment in Makurdi, Benue State, as all centres were closed due to an ongoing strike.
Rushing to the hospital, she assisted medical staff, but her uncle’s condition deteriorated, and despite efforts to transfer him to another facility, no ambulance arrived.
At 10:10 pm on January 23, 2026, he passed away, leaving the family devastated.
Describing her uncle as a dedicated public servant for over 20 years, she expressed anger that someone who served the country faithfully died without basic care.
“This is your life as a Nigerian,” she lamented, questioning whether her family would ever recover from the loss.
