Nigerian Grammy-nominated musician David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been named Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.
The announcement, made in a statement by the Osun State Government on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, is part of efforts to revamp and strengthen the state’s sports sector.
According to the statement, Davido’s appointment is intended to help mobilise resources for the development and modernisation of sports facilities across Osun State.
The government highlighted that the move reflects Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and creating more opportunities for youth engagement.
Confirming the appointment, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also serves as Commissioner for Sports, said the Grammy-nominated musician was excited about the role and accepted the position immediately.
“The ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards will be completed in the shortest possible time. We are also finalising plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports development and policy implementation,” Adewusi said.

The deputy governor further explained that the newly introduced Sports Trust Fund, chaired by Davido, would attract investments and support from sports enthusiasts and philanthropists within and outside the state to ensure sustainable sports financing.
“Davido’s involvement is expected to attract substantial funds that will significantly impact the growth of sports in Osun,” Adewusi added.
Governor Adeleke’s administration reiterated its pledge to make sports a major pillar of youth development and community engagement in the state.
