Political tension heightened in Benue State on Saturday as no fewer than 81 aspirants contested the House of Representatives primaries of the across various federal constituencies.
Among the prominent contenders is Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,who is seeking the Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency ticket.
Also in the race is Blessing Onuh, daughter of former Senate President, contesting for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency seat alongside other aspirants.
The Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency, home constituency of Governor, recorded 14 aspirants, making it one of the most competitive contests.
The primaries come amid ongoing efforts to resolve internal divisions within the Benue APC, following months of political disagreements between camps loyal to Governor Alia and Akume.
