Veteran Nollywood actor Bob Manuel Udokwu has reflected on the life and death of his late colleague, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, saying he was shocked to learn the comic actor had more than one wife.
Speaking in a recent interview, Bob Manuel said Mr Ibu’s illness and eventual death deeply affected him, especially as colleagues faced criticism on social media while raising funds for his medical treatment.
He argued that many people do not understand the financial realities of the movie industry, adding that male actors often carry heavier responsibilities despite earning income from acting.
According to him, the criticism they received during the fundraising campaign was painful. Bob Manuel also maintained that life is generally easier for women than men because of the numerous financial obligations men shoulder.
His comments come amid continued public discussions surrounding Mr Ibu’s family and estate following his death.
