LAGOS — Somolu Local Government has completed the interlocking of t-Shape Duru Close in Zone 1, Ward E, as part of its ongoing road network development programme aimed at improving local infrastructure.
Chairman AbdulHamed Ashimi said the project forms part of the council’s urban renewal efforts since the current administration assumed office in July 2025. The newly delivered road, previously characterised by potholes and poor accessibility, has now been upgraded with interlocking paving, improving mobility within the neighbourhood and adjoining streets such as Ogunbadejo.

The council described the project as the ninth major road completed under the administration, noting that work is ongoing on several others across the local government area.
According to the council, 22 additional road projects are currently at various stages of construction across different political wards, with officials stating that the initiative is intended to ensure equitable infrastructure distribution across communities.
Council authorities said the completion of Duru Close marks another phase in the implementation of its local development plan, adding that engineering teams have begun preparations for subsequent projects.
The statement was issued by Wasiu Badaru, Chief Press Secretary to the Somolu Local Government.
