Now in its 67th year, the Grammy Awards continue to hold their status as music’s biggest night, drawing the world’s top artists to Los Angeles for Sunday’s ceremony.

This year’s event will see major stars such as Harry Styles and Chaka Khan in attendance, as the industry gathers to celebrate the past year in music.

Kendrick Lamar leads the field with nine nominations, largely driven by his sixth studio album, GNX. The rapper is coming off a dominant showing at last year’s ceremony, where he claimed both Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his explosive diss track, Not Like Us.

Close behind him is Lady Gaga with seven nominations, while Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter and Leon Thomas have each secured six nods.

Across the night, a total of 95 awards will be handed out during an event that stretches nearly eight hours. While headline honours such as Album of the Year attract the most attention, the Grammys also recognise niche categories, including album artwork and the best “ambient, new age or chant” recording.

How Grammy winners are chosen

Roughly 15,000 voting members were eligible to take part in this year’s selection process. These voters include artists, producers, songwriters, engineers and even contributors to album liner notes.

To qualify, members must be actively working in the music industry and pay an annual $150 (£120) fee to the Recording Academy. Past Grammy winners are automatically eligible to vote.

Each member may cast votes in up to 10 categories across three musical fields, such as rock, R&B or classical, and is encouraged to stick to genres they understand best.

Regardless of background, all voters are allowed to vote in the ceremony’s top six categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year.

The 2026 Grammys honour music released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025. More than 20,000 entries were submitted for consideration, with winners kept secret until the awards night.

How to watch the ceremony

The Grammys unfold in two stages. The first is the Premiere Ceremony, where around 80 awards are presented. It begins at 12:30 pm in Los Angeles (8:30 pm UK time) on Sunday.

Often overlooked, the Premiere Ceremony is known for its relaxed atmosphere, emotional acceptance speeches and stripped-back performances. It is also where British acts such as Wet Leg, Yungblud, FKA Twigs and Sleep Token will learn their fate in rock and dance categories.

The Premiere Ceremony streams live on the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel and via live.grammy.com. Red carpet coverage follows at 3:00 pm in Los Angeles (11:00 pm UK time).

The main televised show starts at 5:00 pm in Los Angeles, which is 1:00 am Monday in the UK. It airs live in the US on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.

UK viewers currently have no official way to watch the broadcast live, but highlights, clips and key moments typically flood social media within minutes. Full acceptance speeches and selected performances are usually uploaded to YouTube the next day.
