Dangote Group has announced a nationwide petrol price cut, with MRS stations set to sell fuel at N739 per litre starting Tuesday.

The move follows a reduction in the refinery’s gantry price from N828 to N699 per litre at Dangote’s Lekki facility.

Group President Alhaji Aliko Dangote criticised some marketers for resisting the reduction and maintaining higher pump prices, alleging collusion with officials to frustrate the price cut.

Dangote said his team would enforce the new price, urging buyers to purchase directly from the refinery at N699 per litre and encouraging bulk purchases to stabilise distribution.

He explained that transporting petrol costs only N10–N15 per litre, questioning why some stations were charging nearly N900.

Dangote also highlighted challenges posed by reckless import licences issued by the NMDPRA, which he says undermine local refineries.

Despite these hurdles, he assured Nigerians that the price cut would be implemented and monitored nationwide, stressing that no marketer should sell petrol above N740 for December and January.

Dangote emphasised that local modular refineries are struggling, and his team remains committed to supplying affordable fuel.
