US President Donald Trump is travelling to the World Economic Forum in Davos amid rising diplomatic tensions over his renewed push to acquire Greenland.
His trip was briefly disrupted after Air Force One was forced to turn back due to a minor electrical fault, though the White House confirmed he would continue using a backup aircraft.
Ahead of departure, Trump admitted uncertainty about the outcome of the visit but described it as “interesting” and potentially successful.
His recent remarks on Greenland have unsettled European allies, drawing criticism from French President Emmanuel Macron and unease among US lawmakers concerned about NATO unity.
Global markets reacted sharply, with US stocks and the dollar sliding as investors responded to geopolitical risks and tariff threats.
Trump is expected to meet several world leaders in Davos, where Greenland, trade and global security will dominate discussions.
