The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has alleged that the government is deliberately frustrating his political activities ahead of the 2027 general election, claiming he fears for his safety.
Speaking during an interview on the #WithChude talk show, Obi said he had become a target of intimidation because of his political ambition, adding that he believed the pressure extended to other presidential aspirants.
“The way the government is going now, I might not be alive,” he said, alleging that every move he makes is being obstructed.
Obi also recalled an incident at an airport where he claimed officials locked his vehicle while leaving others untouched, despite identifying himself.
He further alleged that some associates now avoid greeting him publicly or inviting him to family events because they fear becoming targets.
Despite the alleged intimidation, Obi insisted he is not desperate to become Nigeria’s president but remains committed to seeing the country work.
