Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has challenged Nigerian musicians and public figures to use their influence to address pressing societal issues, warning that the country’s growing insecurity and social challenges could worsen if left unchecked.
Speaking ahead of the July 2026 release of his memoir, 999, the outspoken entertainer said artistes possess platforms that often surpass those of politicians and should not hesitate to speak on issues affecting ordinary Nigerians through their music and public engagements.
He stressed that entertainers have a responsibility to reflect the realities of the communities they serve, insisting that meaningful conversations can help shape public discourse.
Charly Boy also blamed the erosion of family values and worsening economic hardship for many of the nation’s social problems, noting that some parents now encourage questionable means of survival.
Despite his concerns, he expressed confidence in Nigeria’s future, praising young people and emerging activists who continue to advocate for change while creating opportunities for themselves.
