Exiled Iranian Crown Prince, Reza Pahlavi, has declared his willingness to assume leadership of Iran, saying he is prepared to head a new government if the opportunity arises.
Pahlavi made the remarks on Saturday while addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference in Texas, where he told a large audience of conservative supporters that he would call on Iranians to act when the time is right.
He said he is ready to step in as the country’s new leader and urged citizens to mobilise when the “appropriate moment presents itself,” according to reports.
The prince, whose father was overthrown during the Iranian Revolution, has lived outside Iran for decades but received strong reactions from attendees, with his speech repeatedly interrupted by applause.
During his address, Pahlavi praised United States President, Donald Trump, for his hardline stance on Iran, suggesting that future relations between both countries could shift significantly.
“Can you envision Iran transitioning from ‘death to America’ to ‘God bless America’?” he said.
“President Trump is making America great again,” Pahlavi stated, adding: “I aim to make Iran great again.”
The event drew hundreds of Iranian Americans, some of whom expressed support through chants of “thank you, Trump!” as discussions around Iran’s political future took centre stage.
