A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has launched a scathing attack on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), accusing the group of being responsible for widespread violence and loss of lives in the South-East over the past decade and a half.
Speaking on Saturday, Igbokwe alleged that IPOB had operated as a criminal network rather than a legitimate pressure group, claiming that thousands of people from the region had been killed as a result of its activities over the last 15 years.
He further argued that insecurity in the South-East escalated after the region, in his words, handed over its peace and stability to individuals he described as “idiots, vagabonds, kidnappers” from around 2013.
According to Igbokwe, the continued violence and unrest have had devastating consequences for the region, stressing the need for residents and leaders to reject criminality and work collectively toward restoring peace and security.
Posting on Facebook, Igbokwe wrote: “There is a sitting Governor is Anambra State. His name is Prof Chukwuma Soludo. The bucks stop on his table. IPOB is a criminal organization that has killed our in thousands in the past 15 years.
“All the criminals, all the killers, all the lowest people in the SE, all the idiots and vagabonds, all the kidnappers in the SE belong to IPOB.
“We surrendered our peaceful zone to bandits and killers around 2013 and hell has been let loose.
“We have allowed children to take over SE and we must take it back by all means. Let me say this again: if out of annoyance you remove your cap and throw it away a mad man will pick it and use it forever.”
