Former Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has passed away.
As at the time of this report, details surrounding the circumstances of his death have not been disclosed.
Reacting to the news, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed profound grief over the loss, describing Nwaoboshi’s death as a significant blow to Delta State, the Anioma people, and the nation at large.
In a condolence statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said the late senator was a distinguished son of Delta State and a fearless advocate of the Anioma cause, whose impact on national development would not be forgotten.
Governor Oborevwori recalled Nwaoboshi’s notable tenure in the National Assembly, particularly his role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where his firm advocacy for the development of the Niger Delta and Delta State set him apart as a passionate and dedicated leader.
He further noted that the late lawmaker’s rise in politics was anchored on a strong political heritage, selfless leadership, and steadfast commitment to democratic values—qualities that also defined his service as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.
According to the governor, Senator Nwaoboshi devoted his life to serving his people, his party, and Nigeria, leaving behind a lasting legacy of courage, loyalty, and dedication to public service.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi,” Oborevwori said.
