The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex has banned Point of Sale (PoS) operations within its premises as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism and curb practices considered inconsistent with police ethics.
The directive was issued by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the FCID Annex, Simeon Akpanudom, during a strategic meeting and lecture with sectional heads at the command headquarters in Lagos.
According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Aminat Mayegun, the decision aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
Akpanudom said PoS activities within police formations could undermine security standards and create opportunities for corruption and unethical conduct.
The police chief also directed sectional heads to properly scrutinise and verify intelligence reports before forwarding them for action.
He warned officers against indiscriminate involvement in land-related disputes, stressing that investigations must strictly follow established legal procedures and professional guidelines.
Akpanudom further charged supervisory officers to strengthen monitoring of personnel and ensure strict compliance with discipline and operational standards across the command.
He cautioned officers against acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force and urged personnel to uphold professionalism, accountability and integrity while carrying out their duties.
The AIG also reminded officers to respect the chain of command and warned that unprofessional conduct would attract disciplinary measures.
