Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has revealed that he engaged in white-collar crime during his younger years in the United States as he prepares to release his memoir, 999.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Prime Time, the 76-year-old said the book presents an honest account of his life, including his mistakes, struggles, survival and eventual redemption.

According to him, he deliberately chose not to hide embarrassing moments, admitting he had “been a thief” and committed several reckless acts while living in America at about 25 years old.

Charly Boy said those experiences shaped his outlook and convinced him that his continued survival serves a greater purpose.

He added that the memoir also reflects his transformation from a rebellious lifestyle to one centred on peace, health and mental well-being.

The activist further recounted surviving prostate cancer, saying the experience inspired him to counsel Nigerian men and encourage open conversations about vulnerability and personal health challenges.
