The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, has taken over the investigation into the sudden and unexplained deaths of two Nollywood production crew members discovered inside a parked vehicle at a film location in Lekki Phase 1.

The victims, Godstime Imeh, a lighting director and Chief Executive Officer of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a creative video director popularly known as Director Carrinqton were found lifeless on the evening of Saturday, February 7, 2026.

According to accounts from colleagues, the two men had arrived early at the set to install lighting equipment for a medical scene reportedly scheduled to be shot at Evercare Hospital.

The film was said to be directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Boma.

After completing their technical setup around mid-morning, the pair reportedly chose to rest inside Imeh’s tinted Nissan vehicle while awaiting further instructions.

Around 11 a.m., a crew member delivered breakfast consisting of yam and omelette.

Witnesses said both men were later seen reclining in the car with the air-conditioning running. Concern began to mount when repeated phone calls to them went unanswered by noon.

However, it was not until between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., after filming activities had wrapped for the day, that colleagues checked the vehicle and discovered them motionless.

Speaking to Vanguard, Kola Odediran, elder brother of Walter, recounted: “Walter and I were like twin brothers. He was 36 and the last-born of our family. He was very close to Godstime Imeh. They worked hand-in-hand on movie productions.”

He detailed the final hours of his brother’s life: “On Saturday, February 7, they had a medical scene to shoot at Evercare Hospital. Around 10 a.m., they decided to take a break inside GeeTee’s car. Food was delivered to them; that was the last time anyone saw them alive. Around 7 or 8 p.m., after shooting wrapped, they were found inside the car. My brother was seated upright with foam at his mouth, while GeeTee was slumped, with blood from his nose, eyes, and mouth. It appeared whatever happened occurred suddenly.”

Odediran also expressed dissatisfaction with the initial handling of the case: “The case was first reported at Maroko Police Station but was not treated urgently. We had to escalate it to SCID, Yaba, where it was documented as an unnatural death requiring investigation and autopsy. Everybody was invited—the producer, Boma, and the boy who served the food.”

“It has been very difficult for our family. My mother is devastated. He was the last-born. We were just two male children. This has been extremely painful for us,” Kola Odediran added.

Authorities have confirmed that the film producer, the food vendor, the crew member who delivered the meal, and hospital management have all been questioned. The food vendor remains in custody.

Investigators are exploring multiple angles, including environmental exposure, possible ingestion, and mechanical factors such as emissions from heavy-duty industrial generators reportedly positioned above the parking space.

Forensic examinations are ongoing, including autopsy procedures, toxicology analysis, mechanical inspection of the vehicle, and review of CCTV footage. Police say all possibilities remain open pending laboratory results.
