100-level Nigeria Army University student, Bwala Isa drowns at waterfall near school hostel

A tragic incident has occurred at the Nigeria Army University Biu, NAUB, when A 100-level student, a 100-level student from the Geography Department got drowned in a waterfall within the school landscape.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 22nd September 2025, when the deceased, Bwala Isa, went sightseeing at the waterfall near the students’ hostel with a group of friends.

This was despite warnings from the school authority regarding unauthorized visits to the site.

A source who preferred anonymity told The Track News Nigeria that “Unfortunately, Bwala slipped into the water and began drowning. His friends ran away, leaving one behind who later returned to the hostel to seek help. A quick rescue team, led by the Dean of Students’ Affairs and others, was dispatched to rescue him, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.”

“When it was assumed he had drowned, the Sarkin Biu (King of Water) was invited to help retrieve his body, but after eight hours of trying, the effort was also unfruitful.”

However, in the early hours of Sunday, his body was eventually found, examined at the school medical center, and confirmed dead before the funeral proceedings.

 Bwala Isa has since been buried.

Recall The Track News Nigeria reported how a newly elected President of the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos was drowned at a Lagos beach after attending an event with a few friends at the Eleko beach in Lagos.
