Nollywood actress Toyin Adebola, popularly known as Toyin Tomato, has paid an emotional tribute to veteran actor Kola Oyewo following his death at the age of 80, describing him as a man who “came, saw and conquered.”
Oyewo’s passing was announced by fellow actor Kunle Afod, who hailed the late screen icon’s immense contributions to Nigeria’s theatre and film industry.
Mourning him via Instagram, Toyin said death was inevitable and beyond human questioning, expressing confidence that the deceased was resting with his Creator.
She remembered him as a gifted dancer, lecturer, father figure and grandfather, while reflecting on the joy of celebrating his 80th birthday in April 2026.
The actress also recalled his respected traditional title as Balogun of Oba-Ile and said his absence would be deeply felt.
Oyewo had recently disclosed that an enlarged prostate and related health challenges had limited his acting career in recent years.
