Nigerian troops deployed to rescue 25 abducted students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State were ambushed by terrorists, leaving several soldiers injured, just a day after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, ordered an intensified crackdown on bandits.
Shaibu had directed troops under Operation Fasan Yamma to go “all out” in pursuit of the abducted students, stressing the urgency of the mission: “You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children.”
