Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has welcomed recent United States military airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in Nigeria, describing the action as a turning point in the country’s long-running security crisis.
Reports indicate that the US military launched multiple Tomahawk missiles on Christmas night, targeting suspected terrorist camps in parts of Sokoto State, in an operation said to have been carried out with the knowledge of the Nigerian government.
Reacting on Sunday, Oyedepo attributed the strikes to divine intervention, saying those responsible for sponsoring violent groups are now under pressure.
He noted that for the first time in nearly 20 years, perpetrators of terror are no longer operating freely.
According to the cleric, sustained prayers had preceded the development, which he described as a “sudden turnaround” for Nigeria.
He added that the airstrikes signal accountability for those who have inflicted pain on innocent citizens, expressing optimism that the action would weaken terrorist networks across the country.
