Popular Nigerian pastor and relationship coach, Kingsley Okonkwo, has stirred public debate after stating that the Bible does not explicitly forbid Christians from having tattoos.
His remarks followed the circulation of a video showing him getting a tattoo on his hand.
Addressing criticism during an interview, Okonkwo argued that opposition to tattoos is largely based on personal convictions, church traditions, or individual interpretations rather than clear biblical instruction.
He cautioned believers against forcing personal or denominational beliefs on others under the guise of spirituality.
The cleric emphasised that Christians should be guided by their personal relationship with Christ and sound understanding of scripture, not societal pressure.
Challenging critics, Okonkwo called for scriptural and scientific evidence proving tattoos are sinful or spiritually harmful, insisting that condemnation without clarity does not align with proper Christian teaching.
His comments have since triggered widespread reactions across social media platforms.
