Reality TV star and media personality Tacha Akide has publicly backed a young woman who criticised a man for refusing to pay for her meal after asking for her phone number at a restaurant.
The incident, which sparked widespread debate online, reignited conversations about dating etiquette and the expectations placed on men when approaching women in public spaces.
Reacting in a video shared online, Tacha firmly supported the lady’s outburst, insisting that men should be willing to “impress” when making the first move.
She argued that even though the woman could afford her food, it was only reasonable for the man to pay for both meals if he genuinely intended to initiate a connection.
Tacha dismissed what she described as a rising trend of “wokeness”, where men avoid thoughtful gestures yet expect favourable responses.
She further stressed that women should not be pressured into lowering their standards, pointing out that even animals display effort when courting.
Using humorous comparisons to wildlife behaviour, Tacha maintained that men who are unwilling to spend should simply keep their distance.
Her comments have continued to generate mixed reactions across social media.
