A Bolt driver has opened up about enduring domestic violence from his wife, revealing the fear and pressure that keep him trapped in the marriage.
In a heartfelt confession, the man explained that he often waits outside his home until midnight to ensure his wife has fallen asleep before returning, worried about violent reactions if he earns less than expected.
“Sometimes I close work early. I’m supposed to go home around 7:00 or 7:30, but I’ll wait till 9:00. When I go home, I have to make my bed and go to sleep because if I return with less than 20,000 or 30,000 Naira, she will beat me. She even beats me in front of our children,” he said.
The driver also described public humiliation, with his wife calling him “stupid” and “useless” in front of neighbours.
Despite the abuse, he remains in the marriage, citing the need to protect his children and maintain peace.
Social media reactions have sparked debate on male victims of domestic violence.
