Senegal booked their place in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a gritty 1–0 victory over Egypt in a tense semi-final clash in Tangier.

The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute when Sadio Mané once again proved his big-game pedigree.

The Senegal talisman showed trademark composure inside the penalty area, firing home the winning goal to send the Lions of Teranga into their third AFCON final in four tournaments, a testament to their sustained excellence on the continental stage.

The heavyweight encounter was defined by tactical discipline and defensive organisation.

Senegal enjoyed the greater share of possession and controlled the tempo for long spells, but found clear chances hard to come by against a well-drilled Egyptian back line.

Egypt, meanwhile, were surprisingly subdued in attack, registering their first shot on target only in the 84th minute as they struggled to impose themselves going forward.

Despite a late push from the seven-time champions, Senegal held firm in the closing stages to secure a deserved victory, underlining their growing status as one of Africa’s most consistent modern powers.

Senegal will now await the winner of the second semi-final between hosts Morocco and Nigeria, with the prospect of either a hostile home atmosphere or a resurgent Super Eagles side standing between them and AFCON glory.
