Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has dismissed claims that he is part of a northern political bloc seeking the immediate removal of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from office.
Tambuwal, however, declared his firm resolve to work towards the democratic defeat of President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the former governor addressed his recent encounters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging that the actions taken against him were politically motivated.
According to Tambuwal, the Tinubu administration is uneasy about his growing political activities within the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).

When asked directly whether he believed his EFCC trial was driven by political considerations, Tambuwal responded in the affirmative.
Pressed further on who he believes is behind the move, he said those unsettled by his opposition engagements were responsible.
Tambuwal also linked the situation to his political ambition, explaining that his active involvement in efforts to lawfully and democratically unseat the current administration in 2027 has made him a target.
He reaffirmed his full commitment to the process, insisting that his actions remain within the bounds of the law and democratic principles.
“By the grace of God we’ll chase this government out of power, with the help of God and Nigerians.”
Asked if it is true that some people in the North are not happy with the Tinubu administration and are conspiring against it, he said, “It’s true that Nigerians are not happy.
“I’m not among some people in the North coming together to say that Tinubu must go. I’m involved in the national coalition that there should be a change of guard in Aso Rock through a constitutional democratic process on May 29.”
