A traditional chief in Warri has stirred controversy after criticising Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and questioning her involvement in matters he described as outside her constitutional responsibilities.
Speaking at a gathering, the chief argued that the First Lady should focus on caring for her husband and family rather than engaging in issues relating to Warri affairs and national governance.
He claimed that she has no formal role within the presidency and should not interfere in political or regional matters.
The chief also expressed dissatisfaction with the country’s security situation, alleging that many communities feel neglected amid rising insecurity and governance challenges.
In his remarks, he voiced frustration over developments affecting local communities and tensions involving the Itsekiri people. The comments quickly attracted attention online, generating mixed reactions from social media users.
While some condemned the statements as sexist and inappropriate, others viewed them as a reflection of public frustration over insecurity and leadership concerns.
