Content creator Peller has addressed criticism over gifting his girlfriend, Jarvis, a Mercedes-Benz AMG for her birthday while buying a different car for his mother.
The TikToker explained that public reactions often misinterpret intentions, noting that buying a car for a mother is seen as an obligation, whereas gifting a girlfriend is viewed as a display of wealth and affection.
Peller revealed that his mother initially requested a Toyota worth about ₦9 million due to its low maintenance.
He instead surprised her with a Hyundai reportedly valued at ₦20 million, emphasising that even if he had bought exactly what she asked for, critics would still find fault.
Regarding his girlfriend, he said the AMG was a gesture of love, adding, “Buying your girlfriend a car is the best way to show people that you’re rich… Ordinary small car for my baby. I love my baby o.”
His explanation has sparked conversations on social media about gifting, wealth, and public perception.
