The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has disqualified 56 aspirants seeking tickets into the State House of Assembly ahead of the party’s primary election.
The decision followed the conclusion of the screening exercise conducted by the APC House of Assembly Screening Committee between May 9 and May 10.
In its report dated May 10, the committee said only 33 out of the 98 aspirants screened were cleared to participate in the primaries.
The committee, headed by Muraine Ajibola, stated that the affected aspirants failed to satisfy the requirements laid down for the screening exercise.
The report was jointly signed by Ajibola, the committee secretary, Ishake Yamawe, and a member, Danjuma Samuel.
Among those reportedly affected were aspirants linked to camps loyal to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former APC governorship candidate Tonye Cole.
Notable figures from Fubara’s political camp said to have failed the screening include Chijoke Ihunwo, Victor Oko-Jumbo and Sokari Goodboy.

The development comes amid ongoing political tensions within Rivers State ahead of the APC primaries and the 2027 general elections.
